Assalamualaikum everyone!

Alhamdulillah, all praises to Allah s.w.t. that Valour has been a great success for us.

It has been an amazing journey for the committee members through the months of planning and finally during the execution. It definitely taught us many skills through this programme. To us, the committee members, the experience was unforgettable.

Valour 2015 is a community outreach programme headed by the National University of Singapore Muslim Society (NUSMS) aiming to inspire teens from disadvantaged backgrounds and to give back to the senior citizens.

Our concept revolved around empowering the youths and imparting essential daily life skills as well as getting the teens to promote greater civic engagement between the senior citizens and the community at large so as to create a sense of acceptance for our targeted youths.

The project involved collaboration between NUSMS, Darul Ma’wa and Darussalam Mosque. A two-and-a-half day Camp was conducted with the Darul Ma’wa residents, while our time with the senior citizens was in the form of a 1 day carnival.

Both the youths and children at Darul Mawa as well as elderlies from Darusslam truly enjoyed themselves through our programmes.

These are the valorous volunteers who spent their Chinese New Year weekend at Darul Ma’wa Children’s home.

Without these people, the camp wouldn’t have been a success. They have coloured the youths’ live with love, hope and joy.

We came to inspire, and cultivate a sense of servant leadership in them. Little did we know that in their sweet smiles, warm hugs and kisses, that they would be the one imparting valuable lessons to us, MasyaAllah. No words can truly express what we feel.

Narrated by Abu Dawood, the Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Part of glorifying Allah is honouring the grey-haired Muslim.” (Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood)

Masya Allah, we had a great time with the elderly during our carnival and they all enjoyed themselves at every booth including this photo booth!

Alhamdulillah on the success of our event.

On the whole, Valour Committee feels extremely blessed that the event proceeded very smoothly and most of us enjoyed it thoroughly. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our advisors who guided us and to our dedicated volunteers and facilitators who were indispensable in executing the event.

May Allah continue to bless us in future events and project.

Wassalaam
