Assalammualaikum wr wb.

On 15th August 2012, NUS Muslim Society organised an iftar (breaking fast) session at Prince George’s Park (PGP) multi-purpose hall with the theme “Reflections on Ramadhan”. Apart from wanting to strengthen ties among Muslims, the objective of the event was to gain greater insights to Ramadhan as well as to give the opportunity to non-Muslims to experience what the holy month is like.

Alhamdulillah, the people who graced the event came from diverse racial and religious backgrounds as well as different nationalities, thus fulfilling the objectives of the event. It was heartening to witness these individuals interacting with each other while waiting for Maghrib as well as during the meal itself.

Since the iftar session fell on the 27th night of Ramadhan, 20 raka’ats of tarawih prayers were performed as God-willing, it might have just been the night of Lailatul Qadr.

The prayers were led by Ustaz Ahmad Helmi bin Hasbi who also delivered a tazkirah prior to the prayers.

On behalf of the 49th Executive Committee, we wish to thank everyone who made the event a success! JazakAllahu Khayran to the hardworking volunteers who came early to help in the preparation of the iftar session and to the individuals who made it a success just by merely gracing the event. And of course, we thank Allah for allowing this event to take place, of which without His blessings, none of this could have happened.
